Everywhere I went in Vietnam, whether it be Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hoi An…the millennial generation is running the show. Running the show meaning whatever interaction I had be it hotel check in, travel arrangments, restaurants, travel guides…all millennials.Who are the Millennial’s as there are called back home? They were born from 1980 to early 2000’s. I think, that following the American war, there was a generation that was mostly skipped, and birth’s started happening in droves following the war aftermath. In addition, the next generation following the Millennials, some call it the “Katniss” generation for The Hunger Games series of books and films, will even be more of them and they are just as kind and enthusiastic as the Millennials!
And to top it all off, they are most friendly, delightful, inquisitive and just downright nicest people. And I can’t say that about Thailand..they are friendly, to a point, certainly polite..but in Vietnam, they are exuberant! And I like that, I like that a lot.
Anybody that travels seeks out different things: culture, food, ancient temples, museums. For me, it’s the people. Any good day is a day with positive and fun interaction with the people, and that’s what makes my travels satisfying and complete. I will fondly look back on my two weeks in Vietnam, as it was one of the most pleasant experiences I ever had!
